So much for grandios ideas of getting that darn vest done last weekend. I did both arm bands at least twice. And I am hoping that the buttonhole bands are not as insurmountable. One would think that simple things like arm bands would come somewhat easily. Not with this beast. There, I said it, the vest is a beast and I for one, would be quite glad to get the darn thing out of my hair.

But not to let it get me down. Too badly anyway, I am already queuing up my next projects. I have a shawl half finished and a sweater from Virtual Yarns that I am going to get back to. Zauberflote. I am not exactly happy with the colors, as they seem to me to be different than the colors on the VirtualYarns.com website. But it is probably one of those things that will look better when the whole project is finished. I am just hoping that the knitting gremlins haven't run off with the rest of the yarn. That happens sometimes. But it is a lot easier to replace misplaced yarn that is bought at the local LYS rather than having to send overseas for it. I have to finish this cardigan to go onto other things, as it has been lanquishing in my to do basket for way too long.

It has been beastly hot here in the Pacific Northwest. I don't think that there has been a day in the past couple of weeks where the temperature hasn't hit at least 80. And I can't remember exactly when we had rain last. We despirately need it though, since the fire danger in the state is sky high.

Well, I am off to get a bit of knitting done before I get ready for work. Have a great day.

I hate seed stitch. Yeah it looks nice, but it really takes way too long to knit. Not that I am impatient or anything. But knitting always seems longer to do when you *have* to do it rather than when you *want* to do it. But I am going to get this darn vest done this weekend. I just have a few inches on each of the sides and to do the button bands, arm bands and sew it together. I think that I may try to get the bulk of it done tonighte, with the armholes and button bands tomorrow so that I can block it and get it dry. My goal is to get it into the mail on Monday.

I am going to try out a new sock pattern this weekend as well. It is Wendy Johnson's toe up sock pattern. One of the ladies in my knitting support group wants to do a pair of toe up socks. I usually do them the other way, mainly because I haven't found a heel that I like with the toe up ones. But I am willing to give it a shot. I have a skein of blue opal that has a couple of colors of blue in it. Must be in a blue mood, this is the second pair of socks that I will have started in the last month that are blue. Also, this new pattern starts with a provisinal cast on, which is different too. Anyway, here is the link for Wendy's sock pattern

Okay, so this isn't quite as regular as I would like it to be. That is what happens when having to referee the bratlings. Okay, take deep breaths, pick up my knitting, knit away.

Or I try to anyway. Although lately it still seems that I am spending more time ripping than knitting. And now I am off to a potluck. uhg.

I'm back! Did ya miss me? No, don't answer that, I am not in the mood to have my feelings trounced upon at the momen. It is gearing up to be a rather warm day here in the Pacific Northwest, and already it is too warm for me to get up off my duff and go do yardwork. So I guess I will have to find some knitting.

My trip back to Indiana was a knitting misadventure. Feeling quite grand about having the foresight to work on my project for Cascade Yarns and get most of it done, I was foiled by leaving the pattern in the pocket in the back of the seat in front of me on the last leg of the journey to South Bend. ACK! I hate it when that happens. So I made Dennis drop by Martin's on the way to the house so that I could at least pick up some kitchen cotton for dishclothes. My Godmother loves them and I want to send a stack to her for her birthday in August. That meant that I had to get needles too, because I had only brought that one project.

The next morning my sister in law Ann and I ran out to Walmart for shoes. I snuck over to the yarn aisle and picked up some more cotton, with mind to make Fiona a sweater. Remember the misadventure part? I cast on, merrily knitting away and realized I had the wrong width. That time I only had about two inches knit. And the contrasting yarn was the kitchen cotton that I had purchased the night before. So I started over. By the end of the trip the back was done. When I finally tried it up against my almost nine year old, it was too small. Dang. Off to the frog pond again. I couldn't get anything done right. But at least I had my knitting to console me when things got out of hand.

So I am home again, got the back for the Cascade Yarns project done and started the left front yesterday. Yup, you guessed it, got the initial ribbing done (10 cm) and realized I had done it on the larger needles. Come on, give me some sort of break!
